mk1 1.9 pd engine conversion and restoration finished.

well i know i have not updated for ages.
i have not touched the car up untill about 6 weeks ago. in this time i have done the following.
i hope to have her done ready for vw festival. so i have 9 weeks to the day.

ill let the pictures talk.

Jut read thread from the beginning, looks good, quick question, what gearbox are you using? 5 or 6 speed?

i am using the 6 speed with the 6 speed shafts hubs etc so will be 5 stud all round. i need to got a short shaft made up. i have made a temp one for testing purposes but need one friction welded.

     

well this week has been eventful. plenty of welding done and some big improvements made. ill let the pictures do the talking again.

thanks for the comments guys. its going to be tight to get to the deadline.
I will be missing the weekend 5-7th july as all the lads have organised to go to inters. but i want the engine bay painted for then ready for engine to go back in. the mrs has booked friday of so she can paint front calipers driveshaft etc. Just saves me a day of fidly little bits.

may not look like much progress but here is a few pics
managed to get the mk4 heater box and air con fitted behind the mk1 dash
also got some smoothing done under the bay plus located a lot of parts.

What i am strggleing with is the radiators and front mount intercooler. there aint enough room. what rads fit from what cars?????

Mk1 rad is fine never had a problem overheating altough they are small compared to the mk4. Merc sprinter coolers a good shout if you have the capabilitys to fab the end plates up

Some amazing work here, some real engineering gone into the brake set up, fantastic work .

I've got a sierra cosworth radiator for mine, about £70 for a full alloy one off eBay. Will need some mounting brackets fabricating and some water pipe wizardry, but doubt that will be a problem to you.

Sorted the rads out.
a rover air con rad
corsa water rad
alloy aftermarket fmic.
i need to replace the corsa rad as its knackered but it did the job for sizing up.

anyway loads of pictures of the last weeks work. i missed the two weeks before because of work. now i have 3 weeks off and time to get her finished
