under way first day get rid of the old

poor golf not goin any where like that


new heart for the old boy















and up to 20/09/2009 this is where i am and awaiting qpeng diy ecu to arrive and a downpipe to cut up and make fit.

Has any one on here bought and made up a qpeng diy kit i am fairly confident but just wondered if there is any bits while re wiring i need to watch out for

You will have no problems DIY with Qpeng , after service if you need it is good as well .

got diy Qpeng kit now so will start it tomorrow looks fairly simple considering

well todays attempt is to get all qpeng wiring done and make a downpipe then as far as aware list to do will be:
coolant pipes
vacuum pipes
grease and connect driveshafts properly (as only temp fitted at mo)
little more wiring then be there i think, but to be fair my profession i am a trainee pharmacist, and alot of this is pretty new to me, but best way to learn is to just av a go i believe. soif any one else can think of any thing i may of missed or need to do please please do let me know

Qpeng all wired up now, but does any one know which connectors i can cut out of loom
knock sensor 1
knock sensor 2

also how does qpeng know the amount of air coming in as it doesnt seem to use a maf sensor?

i got that to, and cool take it using that makes maf redundant then cool,
it all turning over now and electrics   pretty much sorter just vacuum pipes

nice progress there would be worth investing in a wideband and afr gauge to keep an eye on the air fuel mix  :wink:

also using qpeng is there any advantage or dis-advantage with re-circulating valve or dump valve

dude, just roughly, how much has doing this cost you, including engine and all bits required as im lookin into doin this myself very shortly.

how did you go about the engine mounts?

well so far
?600 Engine and gearbox Delivered
?700 qpeng ecu
?50 fans
?20 air filter
?100 rear disc conversion parts
?100 wiring loom from a whole golf
?80 gear cable linkage
?80 intercooler pipes
?70 intercooler
?50 downpipe to modify
?75 fuel rail
?75 cable clutch conversion
=?2000 approx costs

but did have a old cabby lieing about as u do lol so got driveshafts off that

only really need to get a whole exhaust system and downpipe made but what i have made will be ok for time being

it is surprising how much u can re use from old engine setup
also if u used original gearbox and used original 1.8t ecu and clocks and keys u could almost half what i have spent so far i reckon

engine mounts i took the original 8v pressed out bushes as they were good then cut and modified and fabricated new ones then pressed original bushes back in, was goin to replace but a nightmare around here to get them.

downpipe was finished today from bits of exhaust that were lying about not brilliant but i think should do the job, dont look bad considering

coming along real nice buddy, I reckon your downpipe'l flow well enough, it'l certainly do the job.
strongly considering doing the same with mine after paint.
getting way ahead of myself as I've not turned a wheel in anger in its current guise yet.
Did you say you've got it ging now? any chance of a vid?
