With regards getting the engine in I'm thinking of jacking car up with the engine hoist and lowering it over the engine on a pallet….reckon that will work anyone?!

You certainly have mate, I'm sure it will look incredible once you've finished it!

As for engine, lots of masking tape to protect your paint as people on your other thread said and yeah lift the car onto the engine with the engine on the floor (Thats what I did!) It goes in much easier from underneath, although I'm sure you could get it in from above if you wanted to, its not as large as a 20vt I don't think.

It's no where near as bad as it sounds though mate, so don'tt worry about it. The shell is so light even with the running gear on so having it doing a 6 foot wheelie is fine lol

Cool fell a- planning to tape micro fibre cloths on top of tape just to be sure.

I'll be there mate whether it is in this or not. Would love to get her on the road this year (& I dont' see why not as everything is ready to drop in ) but you can never account for "teething issues".

Also spare time seems to evaporate since the little chap arrived

How much time? Would he consider taking on another whenever I'm ready? I'm in Stamford so it's not a million miles away to get it trailored.

My shell has been with him 2 1/2 years - a number of reasons for this but none of them to do with me. It has done me a favour in hindsight as I have been able to concentrate on the engine and parts in the mean time and achieved a better finish than perhaps I would have done.

Been to see him at lunchtime and blown away by the finish of the bonnet, wings and tailgate.

He has a long list of cars in front of him so wasn't keen on another golf sadly. He has a Dodge Challenger RT in at the mo…..

Pazwaa sounds like the same chap - OCD and paint fumes do not mix

That's a shame but well done on getting yours in, always a bonus to find a craftsman like this.
