Campaign Restoration - Looking For comments
Here is the first photos of my campaign! Not the first golf i've had, but this one is for keeps!
I'm looking for the project to take an estimated 12 months. - Got a feeling its going to be ongoing! I have had the car for two months now and I have got the wheels BBS RM's, i will be doing the refurb hopefully within the next six weeks.(Pirelli P's tucked away).
I have got a budget for the project, but it seems to be not enough - Same old story!
The spray job is booked in for October! - Long time away but he's a very busy/talented man!
The engine plan has changed a few times over the last few weeks, in the end i've opted for the 8v being rebuilt - Plans to Follow.
The overall aim is to keep the car pretty standard (ish) on the outside and the engine built to improve the performance - but ok for the wife to drive.
Anyway - Long Road Ahead, but should be sweet!
And the other side!

Thats the way to do it.
Keep original as possible, but little tweeks along the way to make the car a little safer and a little quicker.
With mine its got an old BRM engine, so goes ok, just needs a little improvement to the brakes(and a full rebuild, spraying on with)
Look forward to seeing some pics, of the progress
It looks very tidy by the way, nice car.

Thanks i was either after RS or RMs, but a week ago I was going to go for a G60 so decided to go RM. Should look ok in the end! I think im going to go for 175 50 15 toyo's, pretty close (on the old tyre calculator) compared to the original's ! I was being talked into 6 1/2" 185 / 45's on the front and 7" 195 /45's on the back, but I have decided I want to keep them the same all round. Any comments on wheel size would be great, the other option was 165 50 15 but still not 100 %!

Just an update !
I have got new parts ready for the respray in october, front panel, rear panel (thanks crazyquiff) and the wings.
I have also bought a G60 engine and am waiting for delivery.
- More Pictures soon!
I am planning to mount the original gearbox to the G60, may not last that long but I have already blown the budget!

For the brakes the plan is to use G60 calipers. The Engine is the following spec:- (quoted from previous owner)
Tuned G60 Engine
Removed from a low mileage G60
57k Miles - Clocks and old MOT included for mileage verification
Magazine Featured
Includes:
Recently replaced Supercharger (RS Spec Gas Flowed - emails from supplier to prove)
Chipped ECU
Uprated Pulley (2 - included 63mm & 67mm)
Cone Filter & Jabbasport Heat Shield
Original Airbox with K&N Filter
Cat By-Pass with Lambda Probe
(Please note this is the same length as the standard front pipe so any exhaust will fit)
Lightened Flywheel
Intercooler
Slim Radiator and pacet style thin fan
Rod Change Gearbox
New Self Adjusting Clutch Cable (Same as Mk3)
Full Engine Bay Wiring Loom
All ancilleries are still attached and are included (Starter Motor, Alternator, Power Steering Pump, Etc)
New Oil Pump Installed and bottom end bearings and seals etc
The car was rolling roaded as part of a magazine feature before the gas flowed supercharger and it got 190bhp before it started loosing traction (the car was too low) The rolling road operator stated 'we cannot keep the power down, and it feels good for over 200bhp"
THIS WAS BEFORE THE NEW CHARGER AND BOTTOM END!!

Nice car, but if its a genuine X reg it can't be a Campaign! So no need to worry too much about the originality, etc.
