82 gl 5 door

Thought I'd share my latest purchase..

Its a 1982 1.5 gl 5 door, 1 owner from new, 70k, full vw service history up to 60k.

Since I bought the car I have done a couple of subtle mods, nothing too drastic..

Its really really tidy for its age, it just needs a bit of bodywork tidying up here and there.

I have put new plugs, leads, cap, arm, flushed the tank, new filter, stripped and cleaned the carb, checked the points, and its still not running right
I'm toying with the idea of a weber conversion..

Here are some pics

Looking good, proper time-warp stuff, any joy today with the carb?

Not much joy today, I have a few more things to check.. fuel cut off solenoid, replace vacuum rubbers and check timing..

It starts from cold fine, when it gets warm it cuts out :(

Love the car. The colour is rather fetching isn't it  8) Nice short reg number too.
My Mk2 Rocco has a Weber carb…goes well. Lot simpler, easier to diagnose niggles and adjust than the original - that's the main thing.

I fitted a new Weber 36 tlp today, I'm really impressed with the difference , the car purrrs now!

Still got a list of jobs to do…

I'll have a look for the paint code tomorrow.
