He said the gutter run off tube from standard was dripping on top of the inside of the arch!! Well its fixed! I am now looking at the ***t wiring!! Any ideas been quoted 8 hours work @ £45 an hour to get it back to mint nor stupid connectors etc and everything working also to install a headlight upgrade loom! Can you list the wires required for the engine when running a 1.8 16v on bike carbs? will remove the rest… Evetually i will put it through the bulkhead hidden! Also i want to brighten up under the bonnet and rear area shall i get rattle cans in the correct colour or will the come out badly (priming and cleaning 1st)

Hi all,

An update for you all ,

I have been working mainly on all of the electrics! However i have done a few other bits like:

I have sprayed the bonnet
New front and back bumpers
New font indicators
cam belt
got the following things working that were'nt:
Reverse lights,
Rear fog light relocated to the rear light cluster with uprated red bulb
Rear number plate lights

rewired the entire rear loom, which had been cut and reconnected using chocolate boxes! ahhhh

all solder and heat shrink here! then finished in trunking  :o

Then moved on to the not working bits:

The fog light was one,
The reverse lights
Dash lights
Side lights
Handbrake Light

Then i replaced the entire dash loom

I then wired in some ebay purchases:

3 gauges
and and iso connection for my stereo

i am waiting on a mk2 16v dash clocks i think they better and work better and there are more of them

After doing all of this i wired in the sidelights to the new indicators with built in parking lights both sides

New indicators wired in working

trunked in all of the headlights and sidelights etc

New alternator to starter motor cable replaced with 170 amp cable recomended by a auto electricain (wherei bought the cable)

New postive battery terminal and cable 200 amp also recomended  so i am knackered but its so satisfying!

take a look of before and after!

after:

What you think?

let me know thanks for looking

Hi,

I have had mine for a while now and the only thing i would say is make sure you do the complete ecu and loom conversion! dont do what the previous owner did and just wire in the tci-h unit fom the 16ver! Now that i have the complete tci-h unit and vacuum ecu unit running it makes a complete difference to starting and running! Its great to drive great sound! um uses more fuel than a standard gti! lol was dynoed at 161bhp!

I have spent the last 3 weeks rewiring the entire car!  8)

Thanks for looking if you need anymore info please ask!

PS there is a guy on here that has the same set up on an ABF and p&p head hes running 190bhp so sod Injection i say!

Thanks

Paddy

Hi,

I am running the kr (golf 16v) ecu and tci-h unit, you definately need both ignore people eho sy you can run without the vacuum advance part ecu! it may start, in the process it will probably burn out your starter being so over advanced! So get both bits easy self contained loom runs to each ecu the hall sender on the kr dizzy and the temp sender 3 on the sode of the kr head black jacket ones, use the r1 fuel pup as it contains a regulator and is set for the carbs. run on 99octane or better if you can afford it now  you can run them on a 180 weber jest i think they are, or best bet send the carbs to bogg brothers up north they will set them up dynojet them and fab a manifodl with the vacuum for the ecu and brake servo to.

Any more info please ask

Also update for you..

Car failed MOT   :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

but…..

my fault list of reasons:

Washer jets spraying too low
Numberplate not mouted where it can be seen from road ooops
brake pipe flexi hose loose in strut mount
blow on exhaust
thats it getting sorted now! they are timing her up and doing a power run after also. they said it will be MOTd tommorrow and will pass   :D

Didnt fail or any advisories on emissions or electrics!  8)
