Am I being stupid or does this new forum search just the words in the search description of any thread?
Anyway of it making it only search titles?
I want to search brake pipe lengths but I get everything with those 3 words in

I tried searching earlier and I had a mass of results but not what I was after :(

Also what I have noticed (may be cos I'm on phone) but if you get a search from google and click the link it just brings you to the forum home, not the link.

I used to search on google for answers on here as the old search function was gash, I can't do that now :(

Hi guys,

Start your search from here:
http://vwgolfmk1.org.uk/forum/index.php?page=forumview

Click the more link next to the search button.

Check the "Find exact matches (boolean search, may be slow)" and "Search only titles" buttons

Select N/A if you want to search all the way back to the start of the forum.

In the search for box add term you want to search for. If it definitely must be in the results put a + in front of it or a - if it mustn't .

So +brake +pipe gives me 28 results and
+brake +pipe -rear gives me 26 results

The google thing is only temporary, the bots are working hard and you will be able to search on google again - a lot of the content has started to appear again. I have put a redirect for any searches that try to go to the old site - saves making look like we have gone away !

Cheers,
Ade

I'm still finding the search function to be total toilet despite the advice above. I know the title of the thread and the beginning of the first  post thanks to Google and it still isn't being found, getting pretty annoying now.

According to Google - "Quick wheel question. RH Classics. (sexy wheels)" from 15 Apr 2008. I've been using all kinds of combinations with no luck.
