Points Store

Why can I not get a bold topic title?
I have just posted an update on the Project forum and see that my title is the only one that is not bold.
There it is with 35k of hits and 9 pages of contributing data for my project with many photos of my progress.
When I go to the points store to bold the text, apparently I do not have enough points to get the bold text!!
I feel rather short changed as I am sure that there are many members who are new or have just started a project and somehow have acquired enough points to bold text.
Maybe I should be happy that mine sticks out because it is the only one that is not bold! If somebody could explain what I am doing wrong it would be much appreciated.
P.S. What is the purpose of the points store? there seems to be such a difference between 180 points to pin a topic and 2000 points to bold a topic.

Hopefully a website designer will comment.
Have I misunderstood the Points Store?

Sorry for the delay in replying, I am moving house and have no Internet at the moment - well just patchy 3G access.
The points store is just a bit of fun, you can do the following:
180 points lets you pin a topic,
2000 points allows your name to show in Italics on all your posts (it has nothing to do with the post or topic titles),
Finally you can gamble your points.
You need 150 or more points to post in classifieds (or pay a fiver for instant access)
You can give points to fellow members for help, great posts etc.
Points are a simple way of indicating site activity - however you can choose to use or ignore them.
Bolding of titles is to indicate to you that you have not read a post - for each forum area you can mark them all read, also at the bottom of the forum list you can mark all forums as read.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the clarification, I obviously got a hold of the wrong end of the stick.
No wonder my own post was not in bold text as I created it and had already viewed it.
Would be great to have other options between 180 and 2000 to choose from, I have 1500+ maybe that would come in time.

But to be truthful, as I wasn't able to work on the car for a couple of months, I was concerned people might get bored looking at it without regular updates.

Yes, that did happen to me as well.

It's only pinned for you personally I think mate.

I don't think that is the case, I was asked by another member how I pinned my topic when it was pinned, they could have only asked that if they could see it.
Today, I see other projects pinned on the projects forum.

No offence, you just sound like you want attention even when your not working on the car or updating your thread.

I was seeking clarification in how the pinning of a project worked on the WEBSITE forum.
Here is an image of what I can see, 3 topics pinned by other members. one of which has not been edited since June 2012.
And you are right, if everybody did it, a point I had raised in an earlier request which unfortunately received no reply, you would not be able to see any new topics on the forum.
Hopefully the website master will clarify the situation.
Surely I do not have to work on my car or update my thread to raise a website issue?. Anyway, if you look at my thread you will see I did both this weekend.

All spiralled from the "there it is with 35k hits"
As said, no offence but if you took offence then hay ho.

I hope this does not overshadow my separate query about "pinned topics".
Having read your posts, I see you had the same problem about pinning your project earlier this month, did you get an answer?

If a topic is pinned, it is pinned for everyone. In theory the forum could get clogged with pinned topics if it become popular but that simply can't happen. The default setting is to display 30 topics per page, should the number of pinned topics exceed 15 then the least updated topics will be unstuck, we need to have a balance. This is all new and we need to give this system a fair trial and see how it's working out at a later date then discuss any issues that occur and changes that need to be made. Hope that makes sense.
Malcolm/Brad I'll repin your topics as I can see the transactions you made for it in your profile. I don't know why they came unpinned tho.
