automatic paid membership renewal

this needs to be dropped IMO
it just got bad new written all over it, im sure 90% of the paid members dont realise its there.
Im coming up to the end of paid membership and thought i would leave it to renew itself but got this email…..

The Mk1 Golf Owners' Club has suspended your automatic payments. Contact The Mk1 Golf Owners' Club for more details or to reactivate your payments.

I did nothing, Now i have received this email

We couldn't process your payment. You should contact The Mk1 Golf Owners' Club to pay what you owe.

I will try to sort this out later im 99% sure my card details are wrong

It's because there was no payment taken from your PayPal card si therefore no payment for membership Scott it happens from time to time when guys change details for Paypal payments. It's not a bug or anything,  everyone knows about the reoccurring payment schedule when they sign up for membership.

If your PayPal card has expired or there are no funds in your account the renewel payment will bounce.

That's what's happened here as I check last night 

On a similar subject, my payment has been taken on the 31st July, however no membership renewal package has arrived.

My membership card has run out.

Another small issue, I note that last years membership card did not have my Membership Number on it.

Pretty important on the discounts for buying parts and car insurance. I buy my car insurance as a member of the MK1OC.

Dave Ginner has been on holiday and he will be sending out the new membership packs soon.

We have also scrapped membership numbers, all our discount partners now need is your username

As Simon has said above I've been away and on a serious catch up packs up to the 4th of august were sent out today.

All discounters know of the changes to the membership numbers that took effect on the 1st of January 2013 so you won't have any issues with getting your discount.

Sorry, I don't follow Scott. When you sign up you are told it is a recurring payment. You get two emails from PayPal telling you that you have subscribed and set up a recurring Payment.

In your case PayPal is telling you that it failed to take the funds and therefore could not auto renew your subscription and that you should contact the Mk1 Golf Owners Club to sort it out - which means you need to become a member again.

There appears to be a bug in this case where you are not being removed from the Paid Members group - I shall be investigating this - to be honest very few PayPal payments fail, but I will be re checking those that have now.

im pretty sure its my fault, i left my card in town and had the bank send me a new one, im not sure if i changed paypal  

i think i was getting confused cus im still in paid membership group.#

so to confirm im not a paid member now, i need to update card details and then manually send you the money as payment declined?

You don't have to manually send it just update your details with PayPal ans click the membership link and it will give you a new effective date for renewal.

I have knocked you out of the group now, so you need to click the membership on the front page of the site and renew as normal, this time using a PayPal account that has funds !!

The not being removed from the Paid Members group was a bug - this has now been fixed

Payment received ok, I've got to catch up with what I have outstanding from my holidays before I get to send yours out though but have no fear it'll be done in the next few days.
