From cold start in neutral there's no noise, after a good run, I'm assuming when everything's hot, the noise can be heard very clearly.
Sounds like some sort of bearing which is annoying…
Its a mk2 16v gear box on a 1.8gti engine..
has any1 experienced this issue, is there an additive that would solve this or is the problem deeper?

There is a bearing underneath the green cover at the end of the gearbox which may need changing.
You need a new cover as you will have to destroy the old one to get it off.
This can be changing with the gearbox in the car, you will need to disconnect the clutch cable to be able to free the arm and remove the plastic clip which stops it moving to far the you can remove the bearing and replace with a new one and refit a new cover, you may have trouble removing the old bearing but a strong magnet or something to lift the bearing out may help.
How old is this the gearbox oil?
Gearbox oil is often forgotten about so if it's old or more than 50,000 miles then it's worth changing that as well.
Old thrust bearing when I removed my cover and you can see the bits of gunk I found.

Gearbox oil is not that old, less than 1000 miles, I possibly could not hear the noise before as I had the g60 in which was loud as hell..but now with the standard GTI engine I can hear it..Also it's the 16v gearbox
I will def check mine and update ASAP 👍
