I’m putting an Ahu engine into my cabby and I’m not sure which gearbox I could use?I want to use the Gti gearshift set up in the car at the moment so a rod change box ideally. Thanks folks

mk3 golf td with the aaz used an 020 rod change but you will need an uprated clutch, also the ratios will be a bit short, I would go cable change and hydraulic clutch as they are designed to take the torque and have better ratios, I had a tuned aaz on an 020 and the standard clutch wouldn't last more than a week with the boost turned up, with the amount of time and money I spent on clutches I could have easily converted to hydro, there are kits that convert cable to rod change and hydro to cable clutch so no need to fabricate anything, also gearbox mounts are readily available

Tdi which gearbox
Cheers mate, I had the gearbox that matched the engine but I binned it as it had push in driveshafts as opposed to the splined cv on the Gti shafts, I have the hydro setup on my tin top, The engine is 90 bhp so I was thinking I could get away with the 020 box. And not have to buy more gearbox mounts and the seat actuator and messing about with cable shifters that are too long and font fit properlysporttrucker said
