Spring movement between the cups

More or less coming to the end of my build. I noticed both front spring have movement in the locator cups, it is like it needs a stop in the top cup. I am running bilstein b12 now, replacing the old rotten lowering kit that was on previous.  Any ideas what I could be, all the correct washers nuts etc as Haynes manual say are there? Do I need different top cups?

I personally have never seen that, but from the sounds of it your springs may have been previously cut.  Or possibly you have the wrong struts, as the piston is longer than the compressed spring…. I only know OEM.  But I have seen folks that have bought vars from fellows who cut springs…

I know that on my struts that I have changed, once I have the strut assembled and the torque on the strut nut  there isn't any play at all.

B!2 is a kit of B8 dampers with Eibach pro springs.

B8 dampers are designed for shorter springs, and the Eibachs have a mild lowering, so there shouldn't be a mismatch there.

Thank you your replys, Briano1234 no not cut down it was a complete kit. the_whip As far is remember yes everything like the pic, other then ring above the spring as I was told does not need and no longer available unless no was miss informed, I taken it apart and check Haynes manual everything I have fitted is correct. Unfortunately the cars at work and during lock down can't check and again to be sure.
