What have I got?

Searching comes up with Audi A4, so I am guessing they are wrong. The holes align with the Scirocco carriers I have, but the diameter of the holes in the calipers is smaller than that of the carriers. Is there a sleeve that is meant to go in between?
Any thoughts?

Yep. The hole in the dark grey caliper is smaller than the hole in the silver carrier directly behind.
There seems to be a sleeve in the ETKA diagram (2).
I was wondering if that had something to do with it…

Perhaps we are looking at something more like this…

So the hole sizes are right. I guess I should scroll through some old threads to see whether they are for 256mm or 280mm.

I measure 70mm as opposed to 60mm which makes them 280mm. So how do I tell if my carriers are correct?

Here's one to test your VW knowledge.
Now the shed is on the road I'v noticed a rather sticky front caliper. On inspection it needs a new piston. Trouble is, I need to identify the brakes in-order to get a recon kit or replacement.
However these are not your normal mk3 brakes; previous owner claims they came from a VR6.
The discs are vented 280mm diameter 22mm thick with a 4 stud pattern.
Caliper is a Lucas, stamped 54 with a possible part no. 32323570/5 with CN 5 stamped below long number.
So, any ideas? Would these be from a golf? corrado? or something else?
Or would a dealership be able to identify them from the part no?

So if I understand this right…
The Scirocco carriers are all the same.
There are two types of caliper, and I have the 280 type.
I can't use my calipers with 256 disks, so I need an additional adapter.

Using 280mm calipers with 256mm disks does not make sense as they are designed for a deeper disk.

i.e. there aren't different types for 256mm compared to 280mm - it's the same carriers for 256 & 280 but the 280 need an offset bracket like the Epytek.
