Replace the cable as it can saw through the clutch tube, an the firewall feed area can also get crusty and cause it to act the behind.

Thanks for your help, will look into this. Any ideas about the high biting point? Is there any adjustment on the cable that might help?

Cable can get worn and/or frayd and get stiff. Lots on the internet about adjusting clutch. Might be that it is almost worn out and no futher adjustment is available.

There needs to be 10mm of free play at the pedal if you do adjust the cable.
The clutch could be heavy and a high biting point if it’s worn and needs replacing, do you know when and if the clutch has been replaced before?

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind. And no know I'm not sure if the clutch has been replaced or what condition it's in. I'm planning to rebuild the engine so will check then
