slight weep from end fitting
Hi all,
My rear brake compensator has developed a slight weep from the single fitting on the end. From what I can see there is something that threads into the body of the compensator and the brake line goes into that. None of the other inlet/outlets have this. The leak is from the piece that threads into the body. Has anyone ever removed this?
I'm guessing there must be some kind of seal on it that has given up (copper washer perhaps?). I don't want to spend £150 + vat to have it refurbed as it seems to be doing the job it is intended to do and if I have to replace the whole thing I'll go with a MK2 version.
So wondering if anyone has ever taken one of these apart and can tell me if there is a seal in there? Would rather know what I'm getting into incase I remove it and it all falls apart!

Read well up on it before you commit, they're pretty robust things save for the numerous seals / rubber parts, which potentially is likely what's giving up on yours.
I took the one below apart quite a few years back, I was lucky but if any of the soft parts are already on their way out they'll likely tear / not survive dismantling.
Like you say, might be better leaving well alone if it's working.
Was a while ago, definitely pre brexit and not tried since, but couldn't source a refurb. kit anywhere, likely be even more difficult nowadays with being out of the EU.
There was a place in France and another in the Netherlands that would do it for you, but the price was high.
I'm guessing the consumables must be available to get somewhere, if they're able to offer the service.

Edit - I've got the old one out again, if I've understood what you're saying correctly the area that's weeping on yours doesn't have a seal, be that a rubber 'o' ring or metal washer.
When you look at the images in the 'how to' that seems to be backed up further and it's not just a case of mine's missing.
Sealing seems to be by a machined chamfered collar on the removedl valve which seats into a corresponding groove in the regulators main body.
I'll wait to you confirm I've picked you up correctly before taking the time to post more images.

Thanks for that - I've looked but never found any info in a strip down. The company in the UK that refurbs them is called Pastparts - you are looking at ~£150 + vat to get it done. I did email them to ask if they would sell the bits but they said thay have to modify them to fit so won't do.
Would love to get my hands on another one (so I can leave mine on the car ) and strip it down to see if I can find the right seals. You'd think all these folk conversting to rear discs, pedal boxes and bias valves, would have ditched them all by now. Might start replying to posts about bias valves with "Hey, send me your unwanted compensator valve, you don't need it!"

Yeah, that makes sense. I have circled the leaking bit.
It's been back on the car for about 2 years, done 1000 miles, garaged and not often out in the wet, and now it decides to leak! Planning on doing the Silverstone Festival in it in August so have to get it sorted before then!

You could try putting a brake fluid resistant 'o' ring between the valve and body, if it was tightened up enough so as not to increase the distance of the pin in the valve from the plunger and potentially influence the extent of travel might work?
Would need to make sure there's no internal fluid pressure though, in case the inards are forced out as you undo the valve, from recollection nothing's under any hydraulic or spring pressure in there if it's dismantled off the car
