Brake adapters

Howdy folks, I bought some lovely new calipers for my  golf along with some 16valve golf carriers  which cushti kindly donated .Does anybody sell adaptors to suit the 16v golf carriers? I’ve bought the g60 ones before but I can’t see anything for 16v golf . Thanks

Been onto a lad who has some carriers off an Audi, he said they are from Audi coupe Quattro and an Audi coupe gt, 85/86: the center to center on the carriers are 76 m.m are these the ones I’m after?

you;'ve struck gold on the carriers, those fit direct to the mk1. clean them up nice and shiny, fit and be happy

I have some slightly bad news on the mk2 caliper front, you've 1 256mm caliper and 1 280mm (with dimples on outside)

well they're both good in their own way technically both would fit on the mk1 carriers but really you want a matched pair. the audi ones you have will likely just need a damn good clean, and if it was me id get new piston seals for them as well. VW or biggred.co.uk can supply. you can check piston condition as well, but as long as seals are not currently torn they should be nice and clean inside

for the new ones, the one with the extra dimples machined into the outside is a 280mm version, and the other is the 256, they are the same except the 280 caliper is wider to fit over the thicker 280mm disc/pad combo.  If they both came from the same seller maybe get in touch and see about a return/replacement

Cool, so I can actually use the Audi caliper as well as the carriers?

yep the audi ones are the same as mk2 16v except they have the older M7 nipples rather than M10 as on newer cars. they have slight casting differences as well, but nothing that matters to you

I’ll swap the mismatched ones and get a matching pair . I can’t return them as they where special order . I’ll try sell them on if I dont need them now .the Audi brake set up is 100 pc correct? Think he has 2 pairs so I might get both pairs and sell a pair on. Thanks again r.j

special order they may be, but they got that special order wrong so its only fair they take back the 280mm one and swap it for the 256mm one you actually ordered I'd have thought?

someone will buy it worst case no problem so its not the end of the world

the audi gear will bolt right on, if he has 2 sets then quids in you'll make a fair wedge of cash sellign the other set
