Black Diamond Clutch kit for 1.8 GTi

Post

Evening All,

Has anyone fitted a Black Diamond clutch to a 1.8 Gti - Were the benefits noticeable?

I need to replace my clutch and have around £200 budget just for the part, was looking at;

Seat Cordoba 1.8i ( -ch.6KZR002744) Black Diamond Stage 1 Clutch Kit BDC9797PWR Only £196.00

&

Seat Cordoba 1.8i ( -ch.6KZR002744) Black Diamond Stage 2 Clutch Kit BDC9797KVR Only £255.17

I had hoped to get from VW Heritage but apparently the one they stock will not fit my car (DX code with chassis number of 15Z)

:)

Haven't upgraded any of the engine at all, just thought spending a bit more money might help with the quality? The labour cost for swapping clutch out is eye watering… so I only really want to be doing it once :)

How much have you been quoted to change over the clutch?
It straight forward on a Mk1 so should be a couple of hours work?

1988 Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet 1.8cc DX, K-jet. Daily drive. 317,000 miles and counting
1978 Mk1 Scirocco GLS 1.6cc FR, Webber carb. Weekend toy.

Evening rubjonny ,

Euro Car Parts has an easter offer of 20% off on purchases, on top of the clutch being discounted already - making it an exceptionally appealing offer!

But there is very limited information on whether it will fit my car, it just says engine code 'DX' which mine obviously is, but when I looked at BD clutches, I had to check chassis number etc... Is there another way I can be sure I'm ordering the right clutch ?

Its a bit late now but basically you have 2 different kits, 8v and 16v. if its listed for DX, then its an 8v kit and will fit most of the 020 boxes out there.

The 16v one is required for MK2 16v and MK3 2.0 8v boxes as they have a larger input shaft

1st thign you should do when doign this job is check the friction disc will slot on the gearbox input shaft spline, if it does happy days carry on with the fitting. If not, you have the wrong kit send it back
