my current 83 tintop gti has a rear brake compensator attached to the rear beam and 2 inline valves on the brake lines just below the original master cylinder i presume are pressure regulators?..
i have tried to research this as much as possible but just waned to clear it up as everyones cars seems to have one or the other mine has both?
the replacement 22mm master cylinder i have bought has 2 larger parts screwed directly into the cylinder that i presume are the inline regulators similiar to what is on my original set up but they are just screwed into the master itself rather than a foot down the brake line in the bay.
my car will be quite low and i will have mk4 rear disc conv on the rear.
so im told the original rear compensator will basically be a waste of time and that i should either run a manual adjustable pressure regulator to reduce the power to the rear brakes or a couple of the old inline type valves. can someone please confirm this is correct and if so suggest an adjustable valve. i would like to get all the parts required asap get what i can installed then have a qualified set of hands instal all my new brakes lines and get them bled.

the valves on your master cylinder are probably ones for mk1 cab/rocco with rear drums, so those technically not for rear discs either. but many have used them
if yours is a tintop what I did on my cabrio was to replace those inline things you pictured with T pieces from a mk2/3 golf, then fit the brake light switches there. that way I could re-use the original brake lines to the master cylinder
