Hi guys does anybody have any full diagrams for the 1.8 8valve k jetronic system I've never worked on one before and don't fully understand it. I want to study them and understand what's what, and how it all works before I strip and rebuild mine

Hi buddy, if you go to say Ebay youi should be able to find what you want in the Haynes Manual series for Mk2 Golf, it certainly helped me a time ago.

Any good the fuel distributor is easily taken apart I did mine blind. Just be general with it.  TBH it's a simple system to work one

Wilko13 that's bang on thanks buddy just what im after! Keep them coming guys any specific to the DX engine with wiring diagrams etc would be very help full as well

Your a life saver wilko13 mines a non runner at the min and want to get my head around the ins and outs and get on it asap buddy. im about to start a build thread (keeping it completely standerd) so watch this space my 83 ragtop gti coming up soon

Pop on YouTube and search K-Jet. There's some great videos from 'back in the day' that explain fully and simply how the K-Jet system works.

Mine was exactly the same non runner I went In blind only recently bought manual. Best thing to do first is the basics before fuel is check for sparks on all four cylinders. Make the fuel distributor the last option. What year is yours as later models have a lift pump in tank with a filter on and the fuel line on the pump detiriates and filter clogs up with rust from filler neck

Thanks for the vids ill give them a watch later im sure i have much to learn! Mines got the external pump under the o/s sill near rear arch and wines when you turn the key its an electrical problem anyway as there's no spark ill live the coil direct and work back from there! Its been run for some time so if there's any problems id like to be in the know as much as i can plus im going to strip it all clean and replace parts to tidy up the engine bay etc Plus its good to know and fully understand your engine thanks for your help guys anymore input is welcome

A whining pump is common. If it's not too loud and working then it's probably ok. If it's really loud it's probably on the way out! lol

It is loud to be fair so will fit a new one! and that documentary was awesome it was like being back at school with the cool 80s video! the misses aint happy i put it on the TV now she knows how a K jet works as well result lol ill go and get oily tomoz then and try bring the old girl back to life! Thanks guys

Have you looked inside the fuel tank?
Have you checked the lift pump inside the tank?
The car wont start very well with just the main pump working.
Look in the tank before you start it as you don't want old fuel/dirt/grit/rust getting to the the fuel system as that will just cause more problems.
