Local Hero

* Linkage ready to use
* Jetted as appropriate
* Air filter, oil/crankcase breather, etc all easily obtainable
If you go the twin carb route and try to adapt eg those Beetle ones, you'll need to think about the above and its all little bits and bobs which will add up.

You need either Dellorto DHLA's or Weber DCOE carbs. These known as side draft carbs as they sit horizontally.
IDF carbs are downdrafts as, surprise surpirse, they sit vertically.
And yes if you go down the twin carb route you will need the manifold at £248. They do crop up second hand on occasion but not often.
You'll then need the linkage and throttle pedal cable set up. These vary from around £50 up to a couple of hundred depending on spec etc.
If you buy the carbs second hand they will probably need rebuilding and jetting to suit as well.
As Paulc says it gets expensive quite quickly.
Unless you defo want to go down this route (the noise is great and you do get some extra power, about 10-20%) then I'd stick with the normal carb set up.
That coming from someone who runs twins and bike carbs and a 'normal' set up as well.
