Hi this is my first time asking a question I have mk1 gti convertible which ive had for 30 years I desperately need a K Jectronic Whiz kid in heathrow area to advise m as to which parts ie fuel distributor/injectors +others preferably who has spare items that i could try in my vehicle so as to find out which parts i need to purchase to get my car running properley. I've moved your thread to the fuel section - you'll have more people see it outside of the members lounge.
Before changing anything it may be worth starting back at some basics.
Take a look at this thread here - https://vwgolfmk1.org.uk/forum/index.php?page=topicview&id=big-block-injection_2%2Ftuning-an-1-8-gti-dx#post_1435413
In 'rubjonny's' post, click the link to his tuning guide. It well worth checking all is as it should be before replacing anything.
I hope that helps, keep us updated

A lot of running problems with the fuel injection system start with a rusty fuel filler neck which lets water and grit into the fuel system, check filler neck and inside the fuel tank for any rusty bits of metal.
You can shine a torch down the fuel filler neck at the filler cap end as that's normally where the holes are as it's a great mud trap in that corner of the wheel arch.
Cabriolet filler necks are different to tin top cars so you need to get a cabriolet filler neck or modifiy a tin top filler neck to fit.
