My gravity valve, that lives high up in the rear wing above the fuel filler, has suffered with age & rust!! It was "stuck" with mastic at the top of the inner wing. Once removed I found the valve and pipes are fine - but the housing part number 171201181A is badly deteriorated - there was evidently a metal bracket of some kind to attach it - somewhere!!!!
Can anyone supply a decent photo of what the holder/bracket should look like and where exactly it fits…….. should there be a captive bolt or something?????
Thanks

In the attached parts ETKA drawing I have part 13A (171201181A) and not the previous "three piece" 14, 22 & 23 which appears to have been replaced by 13A.
My issue is what does the M8 nut, item 16, fix to??? and what would you need a speed nut, item 24 for ??????????

There should be a little metal tab welded to the car which the valve fits to but they usally rust away so I guess that's what's happened to yours.
I'll try and have a look if I have a picture of mine but it's on a 88 cabriolet but guess it should be the same?

Absolutely spot on thanks cdgthreesalmons i was starting to lose all hope of trying to establish exactly how the gravity valve was secured, i've saved your photos and can now progress this - many thanks for putting so much effort into taking the time to take photos and write notes around every task you've undertaken.

Pleasure - glad to help.
Glad the photos/notes help - like you I found it difficult to find the answers to certain questions which is why I decided to run my blog.
Any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Maybe see you at the Stratford AGM if you are around.
Best of luck with oyur project!
