Fuel pipe leaking

I have just started my car and heard a clank noise so i got out to check and noticed this pipe was leaking petrol everywhere i cant find where the pipe connects to and am currently stuck in the street can anybody tell me where to connect the cable? 

The bit your holding in your hand looks like the end of the breather pipe to let air into the fuel tank.
The other end is joined to the fuel filler neck at the top.

Yes mate I spoke to a mechanic who's said he thinks it's just a breather pipe, and now you have said the same. Thankyou so much! Where exactly am i attaching it to mate? I can send more photos if needed

There's a picture of the small breather pipe and the end as a none return valve fitted which I think is the bit in your hand if it's no connected to the pipe?

Picture and a little more info here but the breather pipe just hangs near the rear beam.

Does the end fit on the pipe you have the screw driver in?

Yes mate that grommet in my hand was originally on the end of small breather i had to remove it so i could put the screw driver we in the pipe to stop the fuel squirting out.

Im just confused as to where it's supposed to go as it looks like it should attach to something but i cant films out where? Surely there a bracket for it or some kind of hole to connect to. When its left loose it points down and all of the fule then gushes out. Can take more photos later….. just really want to find out where it needs to go and what direction it should be pointing

I'll try a get a picture of where my pipe hangs down tomorrow for you but I've got a cabriolet with a slightly different fuel tank as it's larger fuel tank fitted to later cabriolets.

Yes mate I had literally went to the petrol station put a full tank in, then went to visit family. When i left and started the car ai heard a weird noise (almost like the clutch wasn't fully down when changing gears that kind of grind)  I turned the car around to get out the street and noticed a puddle of fuel. Then I found the pipe leaking. Now i know its the breather pipe im kinda worried because when trying to stop the leak i pulled the pipe which made the pipe come out more so that i could try and figure out where it should be, now I'm worried that i could've pulled it further into the tank

If you could get a picture tomorrow mate that would be amazing just for peace of mind as to wear i should put it.

Any luck on getting that picture of the pipe mate? 

I did not get much time over the weekend to Jack up the car as it kept raining so I tried to get a picture with the car on the floor.
This any use?

My Mk1 Scirocco does not have the breather hose clipped to the fuel tank, it's just hanging near the rear beam.

thats about its job in life
