Anyone using the Mercedes brass fuel injectors
part number 049 133 551 as an alternative to the
steel type part number 049 133 551A.
The brass type seems to offer a cost saving advantage if they are suitable.

I know people have used the Merchandise injectors - I don't know if it's this actual one, but for sure recall people buying them as they were cheaper.
Do a search of the forum, hopefully you'll find an old thread on the subject

yes they fit and work fine, but are coarse thread so only work on older 8v mk1 plus mk2 16v. you can change the fuel lines to suit if you want, but will probably offset the cost a bit.
function wise they work the same, only real advantage is the price, back in the day you could get a set of 4 for less than 50 quid, these days price is similar to the cost of the oem steel ones. corrosion resistance isnt really much of an advantage either, the oem ones last just fine even if the outside gets a bit grotty, its the internals that fail first

Two years ago I replaced all the injectors on my 1983 1.8GTI tintop with these and it's ran as sweet as a nut ever since.

Fuel injectors.
I may be wrong here…
Brass inside engine injectors is that they degrade when using the cheap fuels as they don't have the cleaning additives or is that the other way around.
Friends lexus has prob with injector seals they say oòhfff this is a new head sir…
So he is off to scrap yard to get an injector and refit new brass seals.
Fuel type to degrade brass seals I'm unsure but it was in conversation.
I will check source and reply asiknow

Fuel injectors.
Ok possibly not the entire answer.
Ethonal fuel is added as bio fuel at the distributors.
Cheap fuel mainly not premium ie ultimate or vpower.
Ethonal corrodes solder. In carburettor parts so If your seals have soldered components then overtime it corrodes with cheap fuel.
Petrol only

Old thread I know, but if anyone needs some injectors, I just bought some off ebay with a 20% off discount, so I paid ~£58. They are the brass type, listed for a Merc - coarse thread so not suitable for later cars as Rubjonny has mentioned. Offer only valid in Sept from what I can see. Listing is here - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Petrol-Fuel-Injector-fits-MERCEDES-190-W201-2-0-82-to-93-Nozzle-Valve-Bosch-New/233588821765?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
