I think the wires are….
1st picture, the white plug with the yellow/white and brown wire is front fog lights but I guess you don't have them, VW fitted that wire in the factory. So just leave it there.
2nd picture, wires to the starter motor solenoid.

I must point out the Replacement engine mk2 Digi isnt wired up running yet . Just wanted to identify the Red black heavy guage wire and its importance. Cheers

yes 1st plug is front fogs, chunky red/black is main cranking live. the black wires are left over from the old cold start system you can chase it all back and remove
