Not enough for tyre inflator

Been using the Mk1 all this week in this glorious if too hot weather, I went to inflate my front tyres as looking a little low, my Ring inflator powers up but doesnt pump. Thought it was a faulty cig lighter so got a little kit of two crocodile clips and female connector, connected straight to battery with engine running, again powers up doesnt pump. Plugged it in to my Mk7's 12v boot socket, pumps away….

So, whats the issue? 36 year old electrics but would think straight off battery would be fine, unless the connector loom is daffodil VS 6 years old electrics??

If you have a voltmeter, maybe do some comparisons?

The issue may be bad cables on the battery or a flaky Alternator and your battery isn't charging fully.

I have a how-to on correcting your ciggie lighter, in the how to.  But it could be that you need to remove the Cigarette lighter plug in and replace then with the clips.  I did this on my air pump, and with always works.
