Dash lights stopped working
Hi,
All
My dash lights have stopped working and fuel gauge,
Everything works on the outside for example but indicators just nothing on the dash ?
Was thinking fuse ? Any idea what high number it it ?
Thanks in advance
Mk1 caddy diesel- car runs and works fine just nothing lighting up on cluster 👍

So the fuel gauge and the turn indicators have stopped working as well as the cluster lights?
Fuel gauge is powered by the 10 V stabilizer along with the water temp gauge.
The 10V stabilizer had 2 inputs, 12V b + from pin 14 black, and from pin 2 brown ground. The output is 10Vdc
The fuel gauge gets power from Pin14 black 12V in, and then it gets i's variable ground from the sending unit Violet wire.
The Console or cluster lights are controlled by the Ground on the cluster Pin 2 Brown wire, and the Gray/blue wire from the head light switch.
The turns get power from pin 14 black (12V) and the ground switched comes from the Flasher relay pin 13 black/red.
I would do the plump my connectors up and validate that the brown wire Pin2 is a direct short to frame ground, and that between pin 2 ground and pin 14 is 12V.

Does the Turn signal just "glow" but never blink, there are 2 fuses on it one low for the hazards, and one high 19, 0r 22 for the Turns, if it glows then it is the higher fuse.
I would do my Quick grounds test prior to starting any thing.

As it sure sounds as if you have a ground issue and that is the battery-fto-rame and frame-to-engine ground wire.

It just went dead all
Of a Sudden and everything on the cluster stopped working,
No lights come on at all, the indicators work on the outside but no dash lights ? Horn works car starts fine drives fine no issues but all lights dead.
I'll have a look at the wires tomorrow just thought it maybe a fuse but clearly needs more investigation
Cheers

If everything stopped working then suspect the 12V in black wire and the ground brown.
If it is only the lamps that died, then yes lamps go bad some all at once. I just got used to swapping them out when ever I had the cluster out if they were a couple of years old.
See if there is a variable voltage on the gray/blue wire to ground. While you are measuring it you will turn the brightness switch on the headlights all the way from stop to stop slowly looking for the voltage to change from a high to a low. If that is the case just change out the lamps.

Took the dash out in the end and it was the connection that plugs into the back of the cluster clearly dodgy connection will neeed replacing at some point.
all working for the moment thanks for your help much appreciated
