I have battery positive and a thick red wire to the bolt on the solenoid and then a black and red wire to the spade on the solenoid. Where do the two black wires attach to?
thanks

The starter motor in the picture has the right wires fitted as thats all that's fitted to my car and if there was a problem or missing wires the starter would not work..

I did some research today and it seems that on some cars the starter motor has a 15a spade that these wires would attach to.

So I guess your starter motor has been changed so not use those wires, do you know why they need a 15a terminal aswell?
Can't see it making much differance to cold starting unless the wires control something else?

I have looked at other starter motors an they seem to have this connection.

early kjet dont need 15a instead the 5th injector is fed directly from a cranking live feed (starter thick red/black or 5th injector thermoswitch thin red/black) however since this car is a later one with the cold throttle enrichment valve you cannot use a normal cranking live, otherwise the starter motor will fire every time you boot the throttle
what it is the cold throttle valve also runs a wire to terminal 15a, and sends 12v to the 5th injector when you boot it. this is fine on the 15a as it has an internal diode which prevents this voltage triggering the starter.
now you have several options:
1. get kjet starter
2. unplug cold throttle enrichment valve and tap into one of the cranking live wires above for 5th injector
3. as above but fit a diode in the spliced wire and leave the cold throttle valve plugged in
4. just leave it off and deal with the harder starting

I took the easier route, bought a new starter motor, wired it up and bingo starts first time no problem!
I have no idea what the starter motor was that was on there… it looked well dodgy!
thanks for all your help

Could you please if you get a chance go through the steps of how to tap into the cold start enrichment valve on the air box!
And where to connect it on the starter motor?
Thanking you in advance for your help.
