Started wiring in some new speakers to discover the left fronts don't work and then I found these wires not connected to anything
I cannot find for the life of me what colour represents what so I hopefully someone here knows. There are:
2 yellow and white
1 Brown and Blue
1 Grey and Blue
1 Blue
It's now made me wonder if it has been done properly at all previously so does the existing look about right too?
Thanks in advance

Easy way to see which wires goes to the speakers is have a look at the back of the speakers in the front and rear as see what colour wire are there.
Or you could fit some new upgraded speaker wire (That's what I did) and just leave the old wires in there tapped up so not to confuse yourself at a later date .
I think the blue wire is for and electric ariel if you have one fitted.

They're different coloured wires to the ones connected to the speakers. I'm going to experiment with a 9v battery to find out I think

It was the blue/grey & blue wire for the left front. I did the 9v battery test…so paired up various combinations and put a wire on each terminal on the battery until the speaker popped as said by Chris. Worked a treat

yellow/white is VSS wire from the clocks, ignore. blue/grey is dash lighting feed, ignore. red is perm live, brown is earth. brown/red is key-in-ignition (accessory) live from the ignition switch pin SU. VSS and key wire are only there on late/runout models and cabs with power hood, so most mk1 wont have em.
rest are speaker wires
note the ISO standard pin locations for live and accessory is opposite to VW, plus for whatever reason they thought yellow should be permanent live and red accessory live!
