see my sig 6n2basicequipment.pdf, plus 6n2xxxecu.pdf for the ecu loom specific parts (speedo, oil pressure, coolant emp etc)
if you have the later blade fusebox look at jetta89.pdf, that covers the pinouts for the fusebox. for the mk1 cluster:
T14 - CE1
1 - blu/gry - Light switch pin 58b (dash lighting)
2 - brn - Earth
3 - pur/blk - Fusebox pin B/3 (fuel level sender)
4 - blu/yel - Fusebox pin B/7 (coolant temp sensor)
5 - red/blk - Fusebox pin B/19 (rev counter)
6 - red - Fusebox pin B/12 (permanent live)
7 - blu/wht - Fusebox pin A/28 (high beam warning)
8 - brn/wht - MFA switch mode button
9 - blu/blk - Fusebox pin A/4 (high oil pressure warning switch) (blk/blu on early models)
10- brn/red
11- yel - Spade to engine loom behind fusebox on early, Fusebox pin B/15 late (low oil pressure warning warning switch)
12- blu - Fusebox pin A/16 (alternator warning light)
13- blu/red - Fusebox pin A/17 (indicator warning lamp)
14- blk - Ignition switch pin 15 (ignition live feed)
T6
1 - wht/blu - outside air temp sensor
2 - wht/red - outside air temp sensor
3 - grn/blk - Fusebox pin B/15 on early models, spade to engine loom behind fusebox on late models (oil temp sensor)
4 - blk/yel - Fusebox pin A/3 (Gearshift control relay pin 3/L)
5 - wht/grn - Fusebox pin B/18 (Gearshift control relay pin 5/G)
6 - wht/yel - speedo signal

Thanks Jonny really appreciate all the help. another question im going to use an after market ECU on the 20v hybrid so where do i connect the wires for the rev counter and speedo

rev counter depends on what spark system you plan to use plus the ecu. for speedo it depends on the gearbox, there are VAG senders for most if not all the boxes out there so no big deal.
if you plan to keep the mk1 fusebox then you'll have to add a fly lead from dash loom to the engine loom to get the sensor output, if you go for the polo loom then you can leave it oe you just need a polo engine loom to match the dash so you have the right connectors. same goes for the rear and lighting looms

ill be using the coil from the 8 v block and TCi unit, and then the standard mk1 Gearbox. the Aftermarket unit im using is called a Dicktator its pretty decent

right you can run your rev counter to pin 7 of the TCI unit, or you may find the ecu itself can output the signal you need but you would have to check.

For the rev counter to work you connect the red/black wire coming from the cluster directly to pin 4 (Tacho out) on the Dicktator. Coil you can use the MP9 3-pin coil and trigger it directly from pin 6 (ignition output 1) on the Dicktator, no TP100 required. If you need an electronic speedo pickup you can swap the speedo cable on the gearbox with an electronic speedo pickup from one of the newer (round dash) Citi Golfs.
I just want to make sure, are you swapping in a Polo dash or a Velo dash? If it's a Velo dash make sure you get the complete harness and all the control (boardnetz) units with. In the latter case I can assist you with a connection diagram to connect the Dicktator to the MP9 harness.

problem we'll have is figuring out the wiring for your car, I can only really get euro ones so I'm, not sure if yours will be the same. you could compare the cluster plugs to my list and see if they're similar
