My 1985 Golf GTI cab injection stalled on Monday whilst parking on my drive and I've not been able to start it again since?
Seems like a fuel or perhaps an electrical problem but cant figure out what!
The engine turns and sounds like its going to start.
Things I've checked:
- Fuel pump is working ok and I have fuel to the fuel distributor
- I have spark
- Relays seem to work ok i can hear the fuel pump and the click of the relay
- sprayed easy start and it wants to go
- When left for 10-15 mins and you try and start it seems like it wants to start but then just dies but the engine still turns
Prior to this problem its been running fine and starts first time every time.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I have a good spark light blueish in colour
All reasonably new, leads, arm and cap changed the leads earlier this year.
It was running fine just stalled and then cant start?

finger on the tranny to 0tdc
dimple on back of cam even with the plane of the valve cover tin not the rebar.
Dizzy rotor in the middle of the hash. Knowing it is in time is the easiest thing.
I had one of my 90's not start.

The rotar arm is facing completely the opposite when pulleys are lined to TDC
Can the the timing go out that quickly?
I just stalled it and the problem began was running fine just a second before.

In reality it is easier to remove the Cap off the dist and then rotate the intermediate shaft to position the middle of the rotor to the hash stamped on the frame of the Dizzy, than to guess that it was in the correct place to begin with.

Check the fuel filler neck by removing the filler cap and shine a torch down there, any holes or rust is not good news.
