1.6 diesel will it do the job on a dx 1.8 ?

A quick look on eBay it seems petrol and diesel are different, could be a different spin speed or the drive gear may be a different size?

You'll get more torque from a diesel starter so it will definitely be up to the job. If it fits….

nice 0.9kw to 1.7kw all been well 

Original one looks very small!
Give the bush for the shaft in the gearbox casing a a good clean and a good dod of grease when your installing it. Hope your battery has sufficient Amps to keep the new one happy in the cold

grease not a good idea where friction plate dust is mate
