heater fuse keeps blowing

:ocf_emoticons__BangHead:hi the saga of getting my car up and running continues !:'(    i am having none stop grief with my golf at the moment .. I've just had the head gasket done and now when i turn the heater on it keeps blowing the fuse . anyone got any idea what the problem is and where to start looking to cure it ?
also my temperature gauge is registering to the top and i have had it checked and have been told the gauge is broken and i need to get a new dashboard . which part in particular do i need ?  is it the electric circuit board or something else and where would i find one ?  my car was off the road of 16 years and i got her back and running last year with no problems but now it seems to be on self destruct !  any info and help would be appreciated !

start with red/yellow wire to temp sensor on front or side flange, make sure its not earthed anywhere. disconnect it and see if gauge stops going to full. if it does, sender is dead

for blower try unpluggign the blower motor wires under the scuttle, if fuse stops blowing motor prob seized
