Hi. It looks like you've got a replacement Carb, Weber perhaps ? I seem to remember original Carbs (Pierburg) having electrical connections, could be a leftover from that.

I would cut the wire off so no strands are showing, then heat shrink the end to insulate it, bend it back on itself and use a small tie-wrap to secure, so I is a know not to be used wire that can short and snake your hiney.
