Hi Chris
You can check my resto thread but to be honest Andy's Melteddrummer will be far better than mine! lol
It should be easy for you then if you're good with a welder. I found the repair panels you can buy needing so much 'fettling' that you could fab your self just as easy.
Underneath the panel part you would buy/can see on the car, there's a heavy gauge box section that the studs mount in to. Usually it's just the cosmetic, outer part that needs the work but as its a beam mounting it's an MOT fail. (I use the term cosmetic loosely but you'll know what I mean when you see it!)

There was supposed to be pictures in my last post and the box section piece is ok its roted the outer plus worked its way to the sill as well so thought it would be easier in a way …. Did a repair panel on a friends golf and I agree they never fit right had to mess around to get it to fit nicely
But with making my own i can go that little bit further to make it good
Just want to get it done for annual gathering! And its got no engine yet plus its been sat for 10-15 years so lots of welding to do 😉
Thanks for your input 😁
