Trying to re-fit 3 point front belts....but they're all...backwards-y?

Post

I'm trying to refit 3-point belts for the front seats, but ran into a problem.

All the belts I've seen online seem to have the B-pillar mount and actual buckle pointing the same way off the belt…but mine seem to be pointing opposite directions?!

So when I try to mount it, the buckle ends up pointing towards the door, meaning the belt would need to twist (assuming I've mounted the reel the correct way round, pic below).

Umm, any ideas? Pictures below, see that the buckle and B-pillar mounting face opposite directions, but the other belts I've seen point the same direction….confused.

You can turn the buckle to face the other way if you want to.

I....can? Excuse my stupidity, but how do I get the buckle off the belt to turn it around?

Fold the seat belt at a angle of 90 degrees so the is a 45 degree line and push the bulk up and along the seat belt, this will turn the buckle around.
My wife seems to do this with out even noticing on her car all the time!

It's really hard to explain what I mean but it is possible to do.

Its hard to explain but don't just think you'll squish the material over with the buckle in your hand prodding it.

The way I did it was to fold the belt over gently by twisting it a half turn in a fairly long section, then gradually work the buckle through the folded section of belt, and out it popped the other side but facing the other way round.

Well I failed. Firstly because the belts were locked and I couldn't unlock them so couldn't get a long enough section of belt…

Secondly, once I had about a centimeter of "folded over" belt through the buckle I physically couldn't pull it through any more…so lord knows how I'll get it all the way through.

So the belts have been soaked in degreaser overnight to try and free the locking mechanism and I'll try again another day…bloody frustrating though

Well, tried again but just couldn't do it…so have fitted them as they are and they're honestly fine!
