Side stripes..

Managed to remove the Black vinyl side stripes, any hints on how to set up new ones accurately, without putting in any creases?...thanks.

Great question, and I am looking forward to the answer as it is on my job list. I have no idea how I'm going to get them level, yet alone straight.

Seeing a picture of what they looked like helps me help you, but if they are vinyl decals, to lay them down in the past I used painters tape above where the go so that I could have a straight line to work with so aligning them is easier as you can use your eye, to lay the tape straight.

Soapy water and a spray bottle along with a rubber hand squeegee is the only way that I have done it over the years and a hair dryer comes in handy for bends and corners to soften the vinyl to lay it flat.  

Do not do it on a cool day.  I suppose there are plenty of videos on doing it to give you an idea how to tackle it.  and do not look for vids on VW's only, there are plenty of other cars that have them

Another trick that I used over the beginning of my sojourn in vinyl application is to use a big window in my house and vinyl shelf contact paper to get used to how to apply them as it is forgiving and you can practice….
