Remove Clipper bumper trim

Anyone have any tips for removing the trim from the bumper? I hear it can involve a lot of swearing and breaking 

No, spray the wedges with wd-40 let it work…..
Remove the 2 big screws on the ends.
The push the bumper against the rebar while doing this.
The carefully pry the, out with a little screw driver a little bit at a time….each wedges,



I suggest that you work on the center ones first as if you break an end one that makes it harder to keep it on..

not on the 3 that I have owned.

Mine looked like it had been removed before, so probably why.

WD worked a treat BTW.

Mine was glued on with some sort of black rubbery
stuff, I had to use a craft knife to cut it then I could peel the black glue off.
I did not use any glue/tiger seal when fitting it all back together.

Yes that looks like it.
I made up a little ball with it and managed to roll the left overs off the bumper using the ball so the bumper was clean.

I'll give that a try.

Are these the right rivets? If so, do I need some sort of special tool to use them?

yes you need a "POP" rivet tool, and if you can get a backing plate for them that is all more better. backing plate is a steel washer that is the same diameter as the rivet and you put the rivet in the front and after you have positioned it you place the washer on the back so the rivet has a metal sandwich.

I used a small nut and bolt to hold the trim back together on my car, but you can’t reach the top hole as there's not enough room to get the spanner in there.
Makes it easier next time I pull the bumpers off.

Bolts might be a good solution

I made up a little ball with it

Careful where you leave it, 3 years later and my ball of sticky glue will still stick things to if you accidentally place anything on it

Years ago I used to work on Banking equipment high speed sorters and such.  

They used Natural un-vulcanized rubber rollers and as a lark I took a used set and left them on a window ledge with a large paper clip between them after about 7 weeks, it absorbed the clip.  After about 6 months it turned to goo with the paper clip on the bottom.

In my misguided youth we learned the difference between Rubber seals the hard way.  Rebuilt the master cyl/Clutch combo that the early MG's had….. including the Calipers and all the wheel cylinders….. Used the wrong type of Brake fluid and a week later, well lets say I had to rebuild everything again as the seals were Destroyed by Wagner Dot 3 fluid…….Natural Rubber Seals don't like the US fluid…. After cleaning and flushing everything out, started to use Castrol GT/LMA didn't have to rebuild anything ever.
