Newbie Help Needed

Hi all, just bought a GTI cab (88) manual roof. Not familiar with them at all. I'm pretty sure that there's a few bits missing? Should it have gas struts? How should it open and operate? Finally, can anyone recommend someone to change the roof and headlining and what sort of money should I be looking at? The body is solid and never been welded so I really want to get it painted quickly as it's a bit rough and then get the roof sorted. All hopefully within the next few weeks.

should be a couple of helper gas struts, to help open and to protect fingers when closing.. reduces slamming shut.
when you open the roof make sure fold are even and then push down on the frame it should lock into place. 2 little knobs/levers on back plastics/ are the release mechanism.
