MK1 Golf Helios BLue

HI All

I am restoring my mk1 golf campaign, I have seen different types of Helios Blue on an mk1 golf 1983 Campaign model, some have the purple tint 9 which I don’t like that much – but fear this is the right colour) and some don’t?

Can someone please tell the correct colour code as I’ve been told there are 3 types

You hopefully have a sticker across the rear beam in the hatch. It's white with black text.

Take a photo and you can decode it which will provide you with a lot of info from the factory including the original colour code!

I have found somewhere that the color is also called LA5Y i am not sure if this is its code.

Hi mate I had this very dilemma recently. I gave the LA5Y paint code to the bodyshop where my car will be getting repainted. Although this code is for helios blue, samples of 3 shades came back from the paint supplier. They were put onto colour cards by  the bodyshop and I then decided which one I preferred. There was a standard colour and 2 variants. I actually like the purple flip and selected  the darker shade which had more red in it. Hope this helps you in some way as it's a big decision to make.
