The black arches on my gti have faded a little so I'm on the lookout for a new set.
Does anyone know if the ones that are readily available now are considerably different to the original ones? I'm saying this as I assume the original ones are now obsolete?

Gti arches
Vw heritage as they have a 30% sale on.
Some people have told me the repro ones are pretty decent.
I'll know more when they arrive and we try and fit them.

I think I may have been misunderstood here. Im not questioning the repro arches that are available to purchase at the moment as I have bought some in the past and they seem like good quality
What I'm asking is if they are considerably different to be original arches that VW sold as I assume the original parts are rare and pricey now.
If anyone has any info on this it would be great!
Cheers

Ive had my VWH ones fitted.
They are pretty decent in terms of finish and the grain but the fit one two of them isnt perfect.
They obviously lose their shape a little from storage perhaps.
They sit flush in places but in some place look like there is a gap between them and the panels. Its nothing major and I've seen some clipper kits sit like that so maybe i'm being picky.
Overall i'm happy with them and theyve transformed the car.
If you look up my post in the projects section, i've added some pics there.
I do have some original ones in the garage but they have gone smooth a little and lost their texture.
I may look to sell these, not sure yet.

Hi

Hi, I'm about to fit mine - which fixings did you use? I've seen that some people used screws, some stainless screws, some rivets etc.

Over here they make a "Stone" paint so you can recolor things to look like stone. It has a "round pattern" You can use this to "Paint a Texture" on the original, then cover with color.
I suggest that you experiment prior to using on your arches, but I had to "re-match" some after market bumper ends on a car for a friend, and got it really close.
What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.

I had mine fitted by a reputable bodyshop.
They partly bonded them on as I have rolled arches and used screws too. Some black screws is all I know I'm afraid.
The bodyhop restores old Mini's so i'm confident theyve done it right. but exactly how they did it etc I didnt really ask. I was just too excited to drive off in it and look at the relflection in shop fronts as I drove home with my new arches lol
