Hi all,the hydralic struts(rams) on my roof look different to the ones ive googled they seem to have a hole at the bottom of the strut that the bar goes through to hold it in place (which has broken),did they 2 different types ? they are hidden behind the black plastic covers in the back seats, any help would be great!!

Hi matty
Can you pop up some photos please.
That will help us identify what's what.
Power roofs were available from cars 1990 onwards.
Earlier cars had an aftermarket kit fitted.
I've only ever seen two of these setups before.

Why can't you upload one to here?
There is an add image button so you can upload as part of your post.
What year car do you have?

Hmm on the earlier roof frames there is a locking mechanism.
When you lower the roof you push down on the corners and it locks into position. There are two release tabs you press to release the hood.
What's actually broken and is there any makers information on any part of it.
Power frames were not available till 1990.
So as a guess you could remove the kit and operate as normal.
But that would be a shame.
I think these were a universal kit.
Is it the ram that's broken?
Would a hydraulics company be able to fix the ram?
Can you send me some pics if the broken bits Matt.
Ive always been intrigued by these. I do loads of roof fitting so it's a bit of a nerd thing lol.

Is there any manufacturers information on it anywhere?
Does your frame have the tabs that stick out to lock it down?
