Personally I wouldn't be using mk2 golf calipers as they should be very old and worn unless you have a new pair, the later alloy calipers are what I would use. the scirrocco 16v cables were the ones to use as they came with rear discs ( mk1 golf platform) . I have used new genuine ones of these as wasn't really happy with the fit. C and r enterprises and an ebay seller sell cables for this job now, or the caddy shop sell adaptors that apparently let you use the mk1 cables.
yeah to be honest the calipers are a bit worn i got it as a job lot cheap enough and i was just going to clean them up and maybe paint, which other calipers could i use?, ill have a look on fleabay now for the cables. Ta

My cables at the moment seem to be about 100mm short.

No scirrocco 16v cables aren't the best idea, c and r will sell you a pair made for the job, £70 I think when I bought a pair or ebay seller urquattro or something also sells them, bidding starts at about £34 I think.
Ive had a look the ones c and r sell are for the mk3 and mk4 calipers, it says scirocco cables fit the mk2 caliper?

yeah i had genuine vw scirocco 16v cables and they didnt fit with my mk3 calipers once fitted the correct way up, to solve the issue i simply cut 10mm off the guide tubes under the car
Do you know where i can get a pair of scirroco cables? vw heritage have none in stock.

some VW dealers have accounts with VW classic so it might be worth a call to them.
Gemo part number is 434940 if it helps, GSF used to stock em a while back but not sure these days

like i said i had to chop the metal tubes down under the car by about 10mm to get em on (basically the the end part back to where it isnt welded to the shell, you'll see what i mean)
Yeah sorted it now works a treat.
