Lower brace

Post

Hi all,

Trying to fit the a lower brace on my mk1 cabby but the angles are way out.
The main bolt holes are angled where the cars lower control arm bolt holes are vertical
Am I doing something stupid?

Cheers
Stuart

If your lower control arms are straight, and you don't have a castor difference then I would say the lower bar assembly is ca-ca.  Can you possibly have it upside down, and are the end plates at 90 degrees.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Do you need to have the web with the 2nd bolt hole above the chassis similar to the K-bar setup in the link

MK1 4-Point Lower Stress Bar VW MK1 4-Point Lower Stress Bar [SUSPLBAR1/430300] - $250.00 : USRT | Usually Sideways Rally Team | Hardcore VW/Audi Performance

1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

Unsure about the 1 you mentioned, mine was a pretty basic bar with some plates , your 1 looks more "fitted"

The one fitted by VW to some Cabrios and Scirrocos was a K-bar design. However the logic is the same, bracing across the chassis legs by a device fixed in 4 places, two on each side. The plates on yours need to be above the chassic leg not below as you have it in your pics?
