Front Mk4 GTI Calipers on Mk1?

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to fit front mk4 calipers to a mk1?  Is there an adapter I can use to fit them?

I am currently breaking a mk4 GTI Turbo so I have the calipers already.

Which calipers? There's different ones..

A lot have Girling or Ate 57's with 288 discs…

The stock front caliper is the same as used on the mk3 VR6. You may well be able to get adaptors to fit them to mk1 hubs (bolt pattern should be the same a mk2 16v/G60 calipers)..
The issues would be availability of suitable discs and the fact that the 57mm piston needs a big master cylinder
