extended top mounts, do they make much difference?

Post

Hi

Thinking about getting extended front mounts to help with the ride quaility. I understand it will depend on the suspension used, but the set up have at the moment is very hard and was wondering how much difference people have experienced when using the extended top mounts? The idea of having more travel to play with will hopefully reduce harshness but interested in peoples actual experience.

Many thanks

Dan

the main reason for using them is to bring the wishbones closer to level which is optimal position for handling, the added benefit is you can have longer shocks too which adds more comfort

the ride quality depends on your dampers as well as the ride height, what kit have you got on there?

is it not the ball joint extenders that move the wishbone to level, not the top mounts?

The top mounts just give an extra 1" shock travel, the wishbones still raise upward with lowering?

 pretty proud day to correct rubjonny :$

Op, I've raised my actual turrets in my car by 45mm, in essence should give me 45mm more travel on the coilover. Gives a bit of compromise to the lowering lark, or, if your bottoming out/all the way down on your coilovers you'll see 1" more drop

Thanks for the replies…even jonny   . Just had a look at them and at £150+ i cant decide whether to wait and by some better coilovers or buy the topmounts (currently have (£150 ones). I dont track it so think spending £500+ on suspension is a bit ott!?

shepp Appreciate this a very old post - but did you go with the raised mounts and did they make any difference?

They make the world of difference when using crashy coilovers.

Is this something one can buy (and if so, where?) or do you need to fabricate them?
