HELP ADVICE NEEDED

JUST PURCHASED A SET OF 35MM LOWERING SPRINGS FOR MY MK1 CONVERTIBLE RIVARGE 1988  DO THEY AFFECT THE RIDE QUALITY  ALSO WILL THE EARLIER MK1  PRE1984 SPRINGS FIT MY 1988 OR HAVE I PURCHASED A LEMON ,JUST NEED SOME ADVICE BEFORE I TAKE ON THE MASSIVE TASK OF SWOPPING THEM OVER CHEERS DAVE

Hi Pickle!

It's a difficult one to answer, in the sense of what the rest of your suspension is like.

My MK1 Sportline had a -35 spring/shock set up and it was an excellent ride and handling, but all the bushes were new and it had Eibach ARBs fitted too.

Generally speaking dropping that far from standard would improve handling in my opinion, but if you're not planning to replace all the bushes, top mounts etc then you'd be wasting your time  - if they're all original you may find they're too knackered to re-fit anyway.

the trouble is a cabrio weighs more than a tintop so it may sag a bit more especially at the back. another thing to note is spring sizes changed a bit over the years so ideally you want a complete setup which includes the spring caps
