My heating is always on even when I have the lever all the way to the cold side. It was not like this with the old 1.8 DX.
I just matched up the connection pipes through to the heater matrix top to top, etc. Was this wrong? Should I have swapped them around?
Thanks

Cheers rub
Seems to be fully closed. If the bonnet is not sealing against the scuttle seal, would that cause this?
Thanks

i doubt it no, feel the hose after your valve it should stay cold when the valve is closed. if it still gets hot then valve needs replacing

Common fault on the Mk1/Citi Golfs, worn heater valve that needs replacing.

You'll feel it come summer again. I replaced mine with a cheap eBay variant that leaked, changed it for the genuine article, more expensive but works a treat.
As per rubjohnny, common fault. If only I could get my fan working on speed 1, I'd be a happy chap.
