So I have a 2.0 9a engine in my car now, and I placed the air box with metering head and it's wayyyy to high, can I just cut the bottom out to fit or is there a proper solution to this?

Also, what heater pipes do I need to connect to existing me pipes out of the heater? ones that came off the corrado are too big?

any help appreciated !

cheers!

yeah if using corrado airbox you need to cut pretty much the whole bottom off to get it low enough.

for the matrix pipes you need mk1 1.5-1.8 ones and dont forget the heater valve ;)

Ok looks like the grinder is coming out :)

Are the mk1 golf pipes stepped down then as my engine has a larger I.D then the heater valve inlet?

yeh the mk1 pipes come down in size more than the mk2/3/corrado pipes, they are the same I/D at the side flange and metal pipe so straight swap to the corrado engine and end up the right size to fit the mk1 heater valve and matrix :)

heres my build thread, piccy of what I did to my airbox in there plus, other pics in there may be helpful for your install:

oh and while I'm on the subject of heater matrix, I used a MK3 Golf automatic T piece in the hose from the side of the engine and an early mk2 KR metal pipe (early metal pipe has extra outlet that later kr and 9a dont have) to provide the heater valve bypass required on a mk1 golf.

If you can find an early kr side flange then you can run the outlet from that to the metal pipe, or you may find a mk1 side flange may fit? if you cant find an early metal pipe 2x T pieces would do it 1 in the side hose and 1 in the hose to the metal pipe
