16vg60 oil cooling

Post

Hi there, ive got my 9a block back together now with all new bearings and low comp JE 8.5:1 pistons and now im thinking about oil cooling.
Due to the lack of space at the front of my engine bay where the intercooler will go im looking into oil cooling options.  I was thinking of having a custom top-fill radiator made up with a built in oil-cooler and having a thermostatic take-off plate mounted underneath the standard oil/water jacket on the filter housing, followed by a short filter.  By keeping the standard water jacket on the filter housing and running a thermostatic sandwich plate there this will have the effect of heating the oil upto temperature faster than if it was circulating around the cooler constantly.
My concerns were that there may be quite a lot of heat-soak from the radiator going into the oil cooler but i may be able to have this designed out if i get them to space the cooler slightly away from the radiator somehow.  Im going to be running an alloy sump, probably schrick. The reason i was going down this route was simplicity, it will allow me to keep much of the standard piping from the water pump etc and hopefully do a good job of keeping the oil within a good temperature range.
Would be interested to know other peoples thoughts on this.
